A
Song About "Footprints"
Last night I had a dream
O Lord that's still with me today,
I saw the path of life I've
led as you showed me your way.
I dreamed we walked together
Lord
Along the sands of time;
Two sets of footprints in
the sand,
One yours, the other mine.
Together, step by step, we
took,
You were right there by
my side,
The faith I carried with
me,
You'd never run and hide.
And in my dream I saw my
youth
I relived my child's play;
And you were there holding
hands with me
And this is what you'd say:
"If
you decide to follow me
Along
the road we share
I'll
never leave you lonely,
Yes
I'll always be there."
Together arm and arm we sang
Silly songs and nursery
ryhmes;
Oh how the beach was sunny
then,
Those were the best of times.
As
I looked back on this journey of mine
I
soon became aware
When
life was at it's lowest ebb,
You
were not present there.
You
said you'd always be with me
To
show you really care,
Yet
when I needed you the most
Your
footprints were not there.
And
Lord it brings me such sadness,
To
see I walked it alone,
I
counted on you to be with me,
To
lead me safely home.
My
child, my child, my precious one,
I
love you don't you know,
I'd
never leave you lonely,
No
matter where you go.
In
times of trial and suffering
You
were sad and blue
When
you saw one only set of prints
Was
then I carried you,
Was
then I carried you.
